John M.
John M.Lead Counsellor
John graduated from McMaster University where he specialized in Addictions and is a member of CACCF. He worked in the Youth Justice sector as well as the Developmental Sector dealing with high risk clients with substance abuse issues in a supervisory role and as a counselor. He also counseled youth and parents regarding substance abuse when he was working in the vulnerable sector.
John brings an understanding that addiction is real, and that recovery is very much related to supports and the environments that present themselves. He intertwines an empathy and passionate interest in concurrent disorders and how they have come to exist in people’s lives.
Mariah L.
Mariah L.Counsellor
Mariah graduated from St. Lawrence College with an Honours Bachelor in Behavioural Psychology. Throughout her education and work experience, she has worked with various populations including individuals in long-term addictions treatment, youth, acquired and traumatic brain injuries, and developmental disabilities. Mariah has a passion for helping those affected by addiction and specializes in working with anxiety and low self-esteem issues and recognizes that humans are complex beings and believes in taking a whole person approach when treating addiction. She draws from a variety of treatment modalities to create individualized programs in collaboration with clients. Mariah does not believe in a “one size fits all” approach. To promote recovery, she assists clients to build a program around their specific needs, not fit the individual to the program.
Kim
KimCounsellor
Kimberly graduated from Yorkville University with a Masters of Arts in Counselling Psychology. Throughout her education and work experience, Kimberly has worked in both community and hospital settings providing group and individual therapy for a variety of populations including individuals with acquired brain injuries, addictions, developmental disabilities, mental health, and cognitive impairments. Kimberly’s therapeutic approach is highly influenced by both dialectical behaviour therapy and emotion focused therapy.

Natasha B.Operations Manager
Natasha graduated from St. Lawrence College and comes to us with a strong background in Human Resources from CFB Trenton. As well, she brings experience as a WSIB Coordinator and in-depth familiarity in facility healthcare.
Sarah D.
Sarah D.Co-Lead, Nursing
Sarah graduated with distinction from the Registered Practical Nurse program at St. Lawrence College. She has worked in a variety of settings since graduating, but always knew addictions and mental health is where she wanted to focus.
She believes in using a holistic approach in her nursing, caring for the client as a whole, not just their addiction. Sarah is dedicated and works closely with the facilities Doctor to ensure the best possible steps are taken to manage withdrawal symptoms to help in the recovery process.
Sarah J.
Sarah J.Co-Lead, Nursing
Sarah graduated from the Registered Practical Nurse program at St. Lawrence College in Kingston. She worked for 12 years at Kingston Psychiatric Hospital where she worked closely with conditions associated with dual diagnosis, concurrent disorders, as well as mental health diagnosis such as schizophrenia, depression, bi-polar disorder, dual personalities and anxiety disorders.
Sarah brings an empathetic, caring approach that permits patients to feel comfortable and safe during their care planning and detoxification process.
Phil G.
Phil G.Nursing
Phil graduated from St. Lawrence College (Nursing) and brings 22 years’ experience working in the Mental Health Care field. Areas such as Forensics, Dual Diagnosis, Psycho-Geriatrics, Community Mental Health and Corrections and all within acute and long-term care settings.

Phil’s experience and on-going education focuses on health teaching and advocating for the clients while maintaining a holistic approach and to assist clients reach their optimum level of functioning while on their path to recovery and well-being.

I have over 20 years of experience in fitness education and instruction, wellness coaching and behaviour modification.
I hold a professional certification through canfitpro in personal training and fitness instruction. In 2015, I received a secondary certification in nutritional and wellness.
I attended and completed programs and courses in behavioural science and psychology at St. Lawrence College and Queen’s University.
My goal is to facilitate a healthy productive lifestyle, as well as providing motivation and education one needs to achieve personal wellness goals.
I take an integrative approach which focuses on functional fitness training, stress resiliency and nutritional information necessary for your health and well-being.
Paul
Paul
Paul entered the addictions field with a strong desire to help those in need of recovery. Paul’s own journey of recovery spans 14 years and he is very familiar with what drives the addictive mind.
Obtaining his ACSW Diploma from CDI College has provided Paul with the tools necessary to run clinical and holistic based programs at 1000 Islands Addiction Rehab.
In addition to his addictions work with 1000 Islands, Paul has years of experience within Alcoholics Anonymous and AA sponsorship. Paul believes in a Humanistic approach to counselling and utilizes CBT, DBT and the biopsychosocial modality.
